ABOUT THE WORKERS AT PMP
More than 2,000 non-unionized workers lost their jobs on July 1st when PMP suddenly went into bankruptcy. The action centre has been set up by former PMP workers with the financial and resource assistance of the Ontario Government Adjustment Advisory Program and the Canadian Auto Workers union. The centre will offer support for job searches, retraining, EI and counseling.

The workers, who are predominantly first generation Canadians, grabbed headlines this past summer when they staged a lengthy picket outside one of the recently closed facilities in the north end of Toronto, in a fight to secure severance pay.
