Cowichan’s First CLIFF Event Successfully Held

December 2nd, 2009 by cowichan

On Sunday, November 29, the Cowichan Valley held an all day film showing as part of the Nationwide Canadian Labour International Film Festival. Held at Vimy Hall, a community owned resource, the films were well received by all attending.

In spite of technical problems and competing with the Grey Cup game and the BC NDP Convention, attendance was adequate to call the event a success. Over the day, 30 people came to view the films.

The Cowichan film festival committee, comprising members of the Joseph Mairs Memorial Committee and the Community Alliance for Public Education, agreed to participate again next year but reserved the right to move the screening date a week either way to accommodate the commitments of the working class in the Cowichan Valley.
